Seen at the Food Truck Extravaganza in front of Souper Jenny’s in Buckhead:
Kids, parents, chefs, Fox TV, NPR, pets, gawkers, and regular folks enjoying an evening of great food with more then ten vendors selling food ranging from organic bread with bean spread to Persian/Southwestern burritos, BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, sea basss, cute egg rolls, savory waffles with lentil and rice, lobster rolls, gourmet tacos, handcrafted popsicles, and much more.
Future vendors mixed with the crowds and saw the potential. Everybody had a great time, and the lucky ones got to sit down on Souper Jenny’s adorable patio while the rest of us stood on our hind legs and dripped food on our shoes.
Other events are in the queue, but remember that we hope to move beyond festivals and into the streets!!

An underground food truck extravaganza hosted by Souper Jenny and the Atlanta Street Food Coalition will be held Thursday, April 22, 6-9 p.m. in Andrews Square (56 E. Andrews Drive) in front of Souper Jenny’s. The family-friendly event will gather roughly ten vendors, including Jenny’s Incredibly Flying Soup Mobile, The Good Food Truck, Taqueria del Sol, The Pickle, Artichoke Bliss, and King of Pops.
Come early (complimentary wine will be served while supplies last!) and remember to bring cash to purchase fun, inexpensive and wholesome fare for the whole family!
Coming Soon to Our Streets

Carson Young, whose vendor profile we published a while ago, has just received the first installment of his mobile empire: a state-of-the-art catering truck bought from a highly regarded manufacturer in Los Angeles that specializes in high-end customization.
“It is not your normal taco truck or roach coach truck,” Young writes. “I chose a longer truck for the launch so I can have that WOW factor and grab everyone’s curiosity.” It has the latest design in catering trucks with NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) approved refrigeration and kitchen design. The kitchen is up-to-date and practically brand new. It has the latest refrigeration system and the latest appliances that meet the FDA requirements.
Further details supplied by Young: “The truck is all stainless steel inside where the kitchen is, which is a good thing because it is easy to hose and wash off. The kitchen has 4 refrigerators, a cold table, a steam table, a stainless steel griddle, a grill and a fryer. It has everything that you would find in a restaurant kitchen minus the oven. There is a door that separates the kitchen from the cab of the truck for safety and health reasons. The outside of the truck is aluminum. Outside the truck, there will be a self serve area where customers will order their food, get their drinks, etc.”
Young just took the truck to be “wrapped” tomorrow, a process that takes about two weeks and gives the appearance of a paint job. The design guys from TechDrawl said “think Asian cool,”with lots of color and interesting visuals. The name is still a secret, but the theme (Korean – Mexican – In the South) and the partnership (Hankook Taqueria) are a fait accompli.
If all goes as planned, the truck will be launched at the Sweet Auburn second Urban Picnic on April 30.
Y’all keep your fingers crossed!
Don’t believe it for a minute!

According to an article in Eater, food trucks went from hot to not in a New York minute.
While it is true that their scene is mostly “dirty water dogs, halal food, smoothie carts, and the like,” and that some of the branded food trucks have gone brick and mortar, the spirit is still strong.
Instead of blasting BLT for rolling out a burger truck (wish this were the case in Atlanta) and complaining that “blogs, desperate for content, mindlessly champion any new truck that comes along,” those sourpusses in the Big Apple should count their blessings!
